Optina Pustyn

The Soviet authorities destroyed the five churches of Optina Pustyn, and used the monastic buildings were as a school and a home for the elderly. Today there are 150 monks, the churches, more beautiful than ever, house the Elders’ relics; the skete functions, the Elders’ cottage is as it was before the Revolution, and crowds come from all parts of the country.
